MVP450X designed for quick manganese changes and jam clear-ups.

The Terex Cedarapids MACS plant from Terex Minerals Processing Systems, Cedar Rapids, Iowa,  is designed to be a highly mobile, high capacity, complete crushing and screening system. The MACS® name stands for Mobile Aggregate Crushing System because the company says it is a complete system, not just a collection of individual processing units. MACS units are highly integrated with each other to increase production and reduce set-up time. No cranes or booms are required for setup, all interplant conveyors are on-board. The MACS utilizes larger crushers and screens than what are typically used in track mounted or wheeled plants. And now, the MACS plant offers the newest generation Terex® Cedarapids MVP450X cone crusher. The MVP450X has numerous features which the company says increases productivity and ease of use. Major new enhancements include high-speed clearing of jammed material and quick crusher separation capability for faster manganese changes. The MACS unique trailer designs can be permitted for travel throughout most of the continental United States, according to the comapny. The crushing and screening units travel under 13-feet, 6-inches high and under 12-feet wide. Interplant conveyors are designed into the units so that separate transfer conveyors are not required. Folding conveyors and walkways are set up using on-board hydraulics, thus eliminating the need for cranes or lifts. Also, large hydraulic support legs level and stabilize the units to speed setup. Not only is the MACS plant designed for mobility and high production, but low cost of operation. The entire system utilizes industrial electric drives so that the system can be powered by either high-efficiency generators or line power when available. The unique layout of the system provides operator visibility of the entire circuit from a central pop-up control house. Belt wipers and skirted conveyors are utilized throughout to reduce spillage. Maintenance is reduced since all components such as gear boxes, belt idlers, pulley bearings, three-ply vulcanized belts, and flashings are selected for long life and low maintenance. Instant cone reset, strategic rock shelves and the TOPS 2.0 oil filtration system are additional maintenance reducing features. Common components are utilized throughout the plant to simplify support and reduce the number of different parts. The control trailer is stocked with common parts and is organized in an easy to use visual inventory management system. Even a completely furnished mechanics tool chest and stocked hardware cabinet are included in the trailer. These features along with the quick setup provide for more time making product and less time wasted on moving and maintenance.  For more information, visit www.terexmps.com or call 800-821-5600.

KTI Bio Fuels Inc. is a Casella Waste subsidiary.

ReEnergy Holdings LLC, which owns and operates facilities that use forest-derived woody biomass and other wood waste residues to produce renewable energy, has acquired KTI Bio Fuels Inc.’s construction and demolition processing facility in Lewiston, Maine. KTI is a subsidiary of Casella Waste Systems. ReEnergy, a portfolio company of Riverstone Holdings LLC, is headquartered in Albany, N.Y. The newly acquired Maine facility has accepted and processed non-hazardous C&D waste for more than two decades. Through both mechanical and manual sorting, the facility recovers material that can be used as fuel at biomass-to-energy facilities. ReEnergy expects to use its in-house processing experience and technology to recover additional wood from the processing streams, reducing landfilled volumes and increasing wood fuel production. “We are pleased to complete the acquisition of the KTI facility in Lewiston,” says Larry Richardson, ReEnergy’s CEO. “This acquisition allows us to maximize efficiencies and regional synergies and reflects our strategy to continue building a vertically integrated renewable energy company. The KTI facility will increase ReEnergy’s presence in the C&D processing and recycling market in New England, and will enhance our ability to convert a significant percentage of the recovered wood into high-quality fuel that will be used to generate renewable energy.” ReEnergy presently operates nine renewable energy generation facilities in Maine, New York, Connecticut and North Carolina, and three construction and demolition material processing facilities that service the eastern New England/Boston metropolitan area marketplace: ReEnergy Gateway/LL&S in Salem, NH; ReEnergy Gateway/ERRCO in Epping, NH; and ReEnergy Roxbury in Boston. Additionally, ReEnergy has a presence in Maine through its ownership of four biomass-to-energy facilities in the state: ReEnergy Stratton [48 megawatts (MW)]; ReEnergy Livermore Falls (39 MW); ReEnergy Fort Fairfield (37 MW) and ReEnergy Ashland (39 MW). Exclusive of this acquisition, ReEnergy owns 325 MW of installed renewable energy generation capacity and processes for recycling more than 500,000 tons per year of construction and demolition material. ReEnergy operates in six states and employs approximately 290 people.

Company will double the size of its Denver parts warehouse.

Komptech USA, Westminster, Colo., has grown rapidly since its founding less than a decade ago, and there are more and more machines out there working. That in turn means the company needs to keep more and more parts ready to service those machines. Komptech is proactively addressing this in two ways – by further boosting its own parts stock, and by helping its dealers with their parts operations. The goal, according to Komptech Parts Manager Tony Pierce, is “to make sure everybody is well stocked, so dealers can support customers smoothly.” To do that, Pierce will be visiting dealers over the course of the year, training their specialists on the ins and outs of Komptech parts service and finding out from them what Komptech can do to make their jobs easier. Pierce breaks parts out into high-turnover A-list items like oil filters and wear parts, which are stocked centrally as well as by dealers for direct service to customers, and less frequently-needed B-list parts which are kept centrally in Denver. The company is also undertaking a massive expansion of its central parts warehouse in Denver, doubling the space. The existing space was getting crowded, especially since last year Komptech had already doubled its parts stock, and will be adding more this year. Now with more room to maneuver, as Pierce puts it, “I can order two parts instead of one when I call in orders, and build up more reserves” Komptech says it is dedicated to uptime. The company adds it is well aware that for its customers, time is money and downtime equals lost revenue. The company says it has long prided itself on the excellence of its service, and is investing to stay ahead of demand and anticipate needs. By further increasing its parts warehouse space, and training its dealer parts specialists, Komptech says it is making sure its customers always have the parts they need, when they need them.

Tractor Tracs will represent company's screen media solutions for asphalt and recycling operations.

Montreal-based Major Wire Industries Limited has named Tractor Tracs Inc. as its new authorized dealer representing its complete line of screen media solutions for asphalt and recycling operations in North and South Carolina. For more than 24 years, Tractor Tracs has been servicing the heavy equipment and construction industry with a specialty in aftermarket parts and service. “Adding Major Wire’s screen media compliments our current lines and fills a need for our market. We kept hearing from our customers that they were already buying screen media and that they would like to buy it from us. I had experience with a previous dealership selling Major Wire and was confident that it would satisfy our customers,” comments Mark Franks, salesman for Tractor Tracs, Inc. Major Wire’s advanced Flex-Mat 3 High-Performance, Self-Cleaning Screen Media is available in a tensioned version as an alternative to traditional woven wire and a modular version designed to replace polyurethane and rubber modular screen panels. Independently vibrating wires are designed to increase product throughput by up to 40 percent over traditional woven wire or polyurethane panels by increasing screening action and open area and eliminating blinding, pegging and clogging. Major Wire’s OptimumWire Woven Wire has a unique chemical makeup that provides up to 40 percent longer wear life when compared to traditional woven wire of the same diameter, according to the company. The combination of ductility, hardness and tensile strength means OptimumWire is less susceptible to breaking in high-impact conditions and with highly abrasive materials, the company adds. “Tractor Tracs has built a reputation for superior service and extensive industry knowledge. Their service-oriented and proactive approach meshes well with Major Wire and we’re looking forward to a long relationship,” comments Steve Taylor, Territory Manager for Major Wire.
